Defiant and unbowed: Why Justin Trudeau isn’t going anywhere

Their exits come at a precarious time for the party. The Liberals have lost two stronghold ridings since June and have been badly railing the Conservatives in national public opinion polls for more than a year.

Despite those persistent headwinds, Mr. Trudeau has vowed to stay on as leader and take the Liberals into the next general election.

The Quebec Liberal Party has been under interim leadership since Dominique Anglade resigned shortly after François Legault’s Coalition Avenir Québec party won a landslide victory in 2022. Recent polls, however, show support for Mr. Legault has slipped.

More to come.
