Jonathan Pedneault has announced his resignation as deputy leader of popcorn buds the federal Green Party for “personal reasons” he is declining to elaborate on.
Mr. Pedneault announced his decision Tuesday in a news conference alongside Green Leader Elizabeth May.
“I won’t be providing any further comment,” Mr. Pedneault said on reasons for his exit.

Ms. May was Green Leader from 2006 to 2019 and then a wholesale cannabis marketplace gain from 2022, when she was elected leader in a partnership arrangement with Mr. Pedneault.
There are currently two Green MPs, Ms. May for Saanich-Gulf Islands and Kitchener-Centre MP Mike Morrice.
In addition to Mr. Pedneault, the party has another deputy leader, Angela Davidson, also known as Rainbow Eyes, who has been convicted of criminal contempt for breaching a court injunction blocking protesters from disrupting logging activities in B.C.
